Sure, diehard Aerosmith fans would have liked to know the venue and recording date, but all things considered, Look Homeward Angel is a bootleg they weren't willing to pass up. Though it's unclear where this bootleg was recorded - even the 1970s bootleg reference guide Hot Wacks didn't know - the choice of songs indicates that it was recorded in 1975, when Aerosmith toured in support of Toys in the Attic.

None of the three bootleg labels told you when or where Look Homeward Angel was recorded, and all three of them incorrectly listed "Walk This Way" as "Walking the Dog." Collectors were understandably frustrated, but they were forgiving because of the excellent sound quality ( Look Homeward Angel is obviously a soundboard recording) and Aerosmith's passionate, gutsy performances of "Dream On," "Toys in the Attic," "Somebody," and other early treasures. The first bootleg label to release Look Homeward Angel was Ze Anonym Plattenspieler - after that, it was reissued by TAKRL and a little known bootlegger calling itself Fantasy Discos (which had no connection whatsoever to the prominent and very legal Fantasy Records of Berkeley, CA). ‘Angel’ quickly climbed to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the second highest chart performance for any Aerosmith single, behind their #1 smash ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’.In the 1970s, this live bootleg LP was put out by at least three different bootleggers.
